Working on behalf of main contractor Morgan Sindall, SES has been appointed to provide a full design and build mechanical and electrical package on the St Edwards and Tollbrae Primaries shared campus in Airdrie.

Currently, Tollbrae and St Edwards Primary Schools operate out of adjacent buildings close to the site of the new build facility which is under construction on the schools’ existing playing fields.

The new joint campus and community facility will create 5,200 sqm of floor space over two-storeys. The building has been designed to have two classroom wings connected by a shared gym, dining hall and multi-purpose rooms with external sports pitches.

The shared campus project forms part of North Lanarkshire Council’s ambitious school estate programme which will see £100m invested in new facilities.

In the lead up to winning the work, SES provided innovative engineering solutions which helped the client to meet budget. Speaking about this latest win for the Scotland office, Steve Joyce, Business Director North and Scotland, SES said:

“SES has amassed immense experience within the education sector and I am delighted that we can now add the St Edwards and Tollbrae shared campus to our growing list of projects. On this project, which will see us working to a speedy 28-week build programme, it is necessary for us to work to a compressed pre-construction period.

“The campus will bring real benefits not only both to education in Airdrie but to the wider community. To ensure that we meet the build programme we will create a fully co-ordinated 3D model which will assist with both planning and delivery stages. It is also likely that we will call upon Prism, our in-house offsite manufacturing facility for prefabrication of some of the building services modules.”
