SES has been appointed by main contractor Wates Construction and developer Select Property Group to deliver all MEP services on the development, which will operate under Select’s award-winning Vita Student brand – the UK’s only experience-led accommodation provider.

The build will form part of the transformative £750m mixed-use Circle Square development which stands in place of the former BBC HQ at the heart of Corridor Manchester on Oxford Road. Once complete it will offer office, retail, serviced apartments and private residential accommodation as well as communal spaces that will be open to members of the public.

The new Vita Student development joins Select’s existing portfolio of the award-winning brand currently in eight cities across the UK. Vita Student’s striking residences feature state-of-the-art facilities such as gyms, movie rooms, communal areas and study rooms.

Steve Joyce, Business Director North and Scotland, SES says his team is proud to be working on this prestigious flagship site in Manchester.

“Circle Square is already a famous development site in Manchester due to its unique offer and superb location.

“The timeframe and logistical challenges on this stand-out development require skill, efficiency and flair so it’s an honour to have been singled out.

“Our team has a fantastic track record in the North West and we are extremely proud to be part of this major project to deliver brand new outstanding accommodation facilities fit to inspire the city’s future generations of students.”

It was SES’ in-house capability to deliver innovative offsite and prefabrication solutions on these projects, through its dedicated Prism facility, which demonstrated its pedigree for the city-centre project.

Select also recognised SES’ expert team’s vast portfolio of student accommodation and education build experience.

SES is currently working with Select Property Group on the Vita Student Village in York to deliver 517 apartments on the first purpose-built private campus in the UK and they have also completed the Vita Student, Westgate residence, to deliver 264 ‘high quality’ apartments in the centre of Newcastle.

Previous education sector projects also include student accommodation at Salford University, the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre for the London School of Economics and the Laidlaw Library at the University of Leeds.
