Jason Managing Director
Jason has 25 years’ experience across the commercial, residential, health and pharmaceutical sectors as a sub-contractor and major projects contractor. He has substantial experience as an engineer, sub-contractor and main contractor with a real focus on providing the correctly engineered solution, delivering quality and efficiency.
Joining Wates Construction in 2010 as Regional Services Director for London, Jason’s passion for innovative engineering and prefabrication saw him successfully develop and establish the Wates MEP strategy developing a strong in-house ability to self-deliver building services via Wates Building Services. Appointed to the Construction Board in 2014, Jason was accountable for the national delivery of building services throughout Wates Construction.
After leaving his Wates Construction responsibilities Jason was appointed as Managing Director of SES Engineering Services in early 2017. Jason has developed and implemented the SES restructure and strategy, transforming the SES leadership team and approach to delivering building services. The new SES approach provides a comprehensive national delivery competence, focused on engineering and quality to both main contractors and end clients alike.
In 2018, Jason was appointed to the Wates Construction Group Board.
David Business Director London & South East
David joined SES in 2016 as a Regional Director and was promoted to the main board as Business Director London & South East in 2017.
David has been instrumental in regionalising SES working collaboratively with other board members and has restructured the London & South East region, creating an estimating and work winning team and adding focus to health and safety and quality of delivery. This focus has assisted greatly with driving growth and regenerating the SES brand in the London & South East region.
Prior to joining SES, David held several Senior Director positions in the built environment sector. David has over 15 years’ experience as a director and he is passionate about operational leadership, key account management and work winning.
David has a breadth of sector knowledge including: Commercial, High Tech/Laboratories and Research, Data Centres, Shell and Core Infrastructure, Retail and Residential.
Steve Business Director North & Scotland
Steve joined SES in 1992 as a supervisor based in York when SES was a £40m regional business. He opened the North East office in 2004 and has risen through the ranks to Business Director North & Scotland which incorporates North East, Yorkshire, North West and Scotland.
With over 30 years’ experience in the industry he has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the M&E business including commercial awareness, leading through change and thinking of the bigger picture.
He has a passion for the industry. He makes it his personal mission to raise the bar, innovate and drive continuous improvement within the industry. He is motivated by doing right by his people and the business. He drives this ethos into the heart of SES’ strategy, culture and processes.
Steve holds a Diploma in Financial & Business Management as well as a Diploma in Project Management from the University of Leeds.
Steve Business Director Midlands & South West
Steve joined SES in July 2017 with overall business responsibility for the Midlands and South West regions and also for Prism, SES’ offsite manufacturing facility based in York.
With over 35 years’ experience in the industry, Steve has worked in a number of roles covering design, project management, regional business management and the development of specialist offsite capabilities, working across a broad range of sectors including commercial, high tech facilities in research and development, manufacturing and healthcare projects where complex solutions are required to be delivered.
Steve’s passion and focus is around building high performing teams that can consistently deliver client expectations, integrating engineered offsite solutions to projects which are essential in the drive to deliver projects safely and more efficiently.
Steve holds a Diploma in Building Services and Environmental Engineering.
Paul Engineering Services Director
Paul joined SES Engineering Services in March 2012. Paul is the technical authority for the business and is responsible for design, BIM & digital engineering and project performance.
With over 30 years’ experience in the industry in consultancy and contracting, he has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of integrated design, digital engineering & BIM and building physics engineering. As an advocate and champion of preconstruction and collaborative working, Paul drives this ethos into the heart of SES’ strategy, culture and processes.
Paul is passionate about integrated project delivery and using design management to drive collaborative teams through embracing the realities of digital engineering to create customer focused solutions and project efficiencies.
Paul is a Chartered Engineer, first class degree qualified and a member of CIBSE. He has significant experience in a wide range of sectors and project types; both for the private and public sector.
Darren Commercial Director
Darren was appointed Commercial Director of SES Engineering Services in August 2016. Darren is responsible for all commercial, legal and procurement matters within SES. He has worked in the Construction industry since 1990, starting as a Trainee Surveyor and working his way up to Commercial Director.
Darren is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Director of a Multi-School Academy Company. Darren holds BSc Honours, MRICS and a Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Law.
Nicola Senior HR Business Partner
Nicola joined SES Engineering Services in July 2019 as Senior HR Business Partner, with responsibility for all people-related activities across the business.
Having worked in both public and private sectors, latterly for Transport for London and before that Ford Motor Company, she has over 15 years’ experience of partnering with leadership teams to develop long-term strategic people plans and activities. Her broad generalist background includes prior roles in Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering and Strategic Workforce Planning on both domestic and pan-European levels.
A champion of employee engagement, Nicola is passionate about creating open and inclusive working environments where individuals can grow and perform to their highest potential.
Nicola is CIPD qualified, with a Masters in Personnel and Development and is currently studying towards a Level 5 certificate in Coaching & Mentoring. Nicola volunteers with The Girls Network, a charity which aims to inspire girls from the least advantaged communities by connecting them to a mentor and a network of professional female role models.
Paul Financial Controller
Paul, formerly of Arville Textiles and Morrisons Supermarkets joined SES Engineering Services in November 2018, bringing over 20 years’ experience in finance roles across a range of sectors including retail, FMCG, manufacturing and professional services.
A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Paul has a passion for delivering strong financial support across a diverse range of stakeholders and for developing valued, integrated finance teams capable of adding real value in all areas of the business.
Paul is responsible for financial reporting and control across SES Engineering Services; working closely with the Commercial and Operational teams to ensure robust financial governance and compliance whilst driving the delivery of the company’s financial targets.
