SES Engineering Services (SES) working collaboratively with principal contractor Willmott Dixon created a new, state-of-the-art headquarters for Lancashire Constabulary’s West Division in Blackpool.
Working to BIM (Building Information Modelling) Level 2, SES installed a full range of building services including lighting, photovoltaic systems, building management systems, power distribution as well as rainwater drainage systems. The energy-efficient building has been designed to meet a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating. The 8,500sqm building has provided Lancashire Constabulary with new contemporary office space, a 42-cell custody suite and a base for local neighbourhood policing and immediate response teams, as well as an investigations hub.
The site’s 42-cell suite is housed in a semi-circular precast concrete building. By positioning the main custody desk centrally, with the cell corridors radiating out, the suite guarantees custody officers a line of sight to each cell corridor.
This project marks the force’s largest investment in its history, this new three-storey building will replace the West Division’s existing base on Bonny Street and covers Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre, Lancaster and Morecambe.
