SES Engineering Services (SES) was appointed as the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services provider for the development of the first phase of the Ronald Ross Building for the University of Liverpool.
The Ronald Ross Building is home to the Institute of Infection and Global Health. This is an international centre of excellence dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of humans and animals. The Institute brings together doctors, vets and scientists under a “one Health” agenda policy.
The Ronald Ross Building’s state-of-the-art laboratory spaces are home to scientists at the forefront of research into pneumococcus, diarrhoeal disease and emerging infections, bringing together the brightest minds from medicine, biomedicine, veterinary health, and biological sciences.
The service routes were spacially challenging and services were condensed within the space, the utilisation of our in-house bespoke modular production facility, Prism ensured that everything was fully co-ordinated offsite, minimising the installation period on the workface. Benefits realised were reduced site labour, access equipment, hot works and wastage were a significant factor in ensuring the project was completed to the University’s requirements. The heavily serviced rooftop plant area was also pre-fabricated offsite, reducing the site installation time for this element by over 50%.
The SES Engineering Services contract included the full design for providing services to the new containment laboratory (CL3 & SAPO3) building, As well as integrating the building within the University’s existing infrastructure and providing services connections in readiness for the development of Phase 2 of the building.
