Dr Jonathan Sims joined SES as Business Performance Director in February 2025, bringing more than 25 years of experience across the construction, engineering and built environment sectors. He is responsible for driving business performance, strategy, transformation and operational excellence across the business.
Throughout his career, Jonathan has held senior leadership roles spanning procurement, supply chain, business development, organisational transformation, and strategic change, working with leading organisations including Equans, Morgan Sindall, NG Bailey and Engie. His broad experience enables him to identify opportunities for growth, drive business performance and lead transformational initiatives that deliver lasting value.
Jonathan’s career began as an apprentice electrician before progressing through a diverse range of operational and leadership roles. He holds a BSc in Surveying, an MSc in Strategic Human Resource Management, an MBA and a PhD, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning, professional development and leadership excellence.
Alongside his role at SES, Jonathan is a Visiting Professor at Durham University Business School and an Affiliate Professor at Emlyon Business School in Paris. His academic and industry expertise helps strengthen the connection between research, innovation and practical business leadership, bringing valuable insight to SES, its customers and partners.
