SES delivers new SEND Learning & Therapy Facilities with Yorkshire Children’s Charity
We’re proud to be collaborating with Yorkshire Children’s Charity and our trusted supply chain partners to deliver high-quality new educational facilities for children with special educational needs (SEND) at the Hilltop school in Rotherham.
The project involved the construction of two new purpose-built buildings designed to provide enhanced learning, wellbeing and therapeutic environments for current and future pupils.
The first building will provide three new classrooms, dedicated calm rooms, staff and pupil toilet facilities, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the needs of children with SEND. The second facility, known as the Rebound Therapy Building, will feature specialist therapy equipment including trampolines, a sensory room and an accessible WC, offering pupils valuable opportunities for physical development and sensory engagement.
As part of its scope, SES is responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of a comprehensive range of mechanical and electrical services across both buildings. These include air conditioning, ventilation, domestic water services, low-voltage power distribution, lighting, access control systems, induction loops, WC alarms and lighting protection.
A key highlight of the project has been the outstanding support received from SES’ supply chain partners. Through strong collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful community impact, SES has secured more than £300,000 in goodwill contributions and support. This significant investment has helped create first-class educational facilities that will benefit pupils for many years to come.
The project has also delivered substantial social and economic value to the local community. More than 52.71% of SES’ MEP contract value has been spent with SME’s supporting local businesses and strengthening the regional supply chain. In addition, £23,372 has been invested in charitable causes through donations and volunteering time provided by SES and its supply chain partners.
Overall, SES’s involvement in the project has generated over £500,000 of social value, achieved through investment in more resilient communities, support for economic growth and responsible business practices, and the creation of employment, training and skills opportunities.
