Project at a glance

The Life and Mind Building (LaMB) at the University of Oxford is a standout development designed to support world-changing research and exceptional teaching. We’re proud to be part of this pioneering project – delivering customised MEP solutions that enable high-performance outcomes for occupants and researchers.

This 25,000 sqm facility, completed in 2025, accommodates 800 students and 1,200 researchers and will welcome pioneering scientists across psychology, biology, and the INEOS Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research. Located at the gateway to Oxford’s Science Area, LaMB brings together the Departments of Experimental Psychology and Biology in two interconnected buildings linked by a central atrium and teaching centre.

Developed in line with Oxford University’s Estates Services Sustainability Design Guide, local planning policy, and best practice standards including WELL. Designed to Passivhaus principles to reduce emissions, energy use, and embodied carbon.

SES delivered over 50,000 offsite hours via our facility, including:

Constructed SES’s largest modular plant room to date — a two-storey Chemical Teaching Lab (CTL) plant room measuring 21m x 9m x 6m, assembled in 12 weeks with minimal campus disruption.
