SES Technology – Can the UK Data Centre Sector Deliver What AI Now Demands?

The UK data centre market sits at a critical point. Demand continues to accelerate, driven by cloud expansion and the rapid emergence of AI workloads. However, despite these pressures, funding remains available and global investor sentiment is broadly positive.

There is, however, a widening gap between ambition and execution. With structural constraints led by power, availability is a key drawback, but we must also consider supply chain fragility, skills shortages, and planning complexity, all of which limit the UK’s ability to deliver capacity at pace.

The central question is no longer whether the demand is there, but whether the UK can overcome these barriers quickly enough to capture it. The alternative would mean losing investment to more agile and cost-competitive markets worldwide.
