SES secured the £20 million contract to install and commission the mechanical & electrical building services for the new Home Office Central London Accomodation Strategy project. The new development is in Marsham street, Westminster and replaces the existing government site known locally as 'The Three Ugly Sisters'.
The significant £311 million PFI deal saw the razing of the former home of the Environment Department and their three unpopular 1970's tower blocks with a new state of the art headquaters building.
The new building, designed by leading architect Sir Terry Farrell comprises three linked buildings having a maximum of six upper floors. The lower ground floor, which benefits from natural light, contains much of the shared support space such as a restaurant, library and sport and recreation facilities. The ground floor includes an impressive main entrance and reception providing easy but secure access to the conference and training facilities, including a media centre.
